Alaska Airlines grounded flights at all US airports on Thursday due to a technical issue.
The airline announced that it was "facing an IT outage impacting flight schedules" and implemented "a temporary ground stop."
The carrier did not disclose the duration the outage would continue or how many flights were impacted. It stated it was "actively restoring our operations" after the outage.
The ground stop also impacted Horizon Air, which is operated by the parent company, as per an advisory by the aviation authority.
The airline, a member of The airline group based in the Pacific Northwest, primarily operates on the western seaboard of the United States. It services 140 destinations globally, including multiple states and dozens of nations, as stated on its online platform.
Previously, the airline merged with another carrier, which was not impacted by Thursday's ground stop.
It is the second technical failure impacting the airline in recent months. Earlier this year, an issue disrupted operations for about several hours.
The company did not provide a comment on Thursday to requests for comment.
Air transportation in the US has been complicated in recent weeks due to the US government shutdown that began earlier this month. Shortage of flight controllers reporting for duty has delayed flights at multiple locations.
